Marion County Farm Bureau to give $1,000 scholarship
in honor of former president, Stanley Smith.

Stanley Smith was born on March 12, 1923 and grew up on a farm in Decatur County, IN. He
owned a farm and raised livestock in Marion County starting in 1960. Stanley retired from
Harvester after 32 years. He was on the Marion County Fair Board for 10 years and the director of
the fair Cattle Department for 14 years. Stanley was a Marion County Farm Bureau member since
1976. He served as Marion County Farm Bureau president for 12 years & Franklin Township Farm
Bureau president for 15 years. He also served on the Marion Soil & Water Board for 9 years.
Stanley had a passion for helping his children and grandchildren show livestock in 4-H and
biding on the animals at the 4-H Livestock Sale. Stanley passed away January 7, 2010.
